Writing

Reading for someone else

You can read, comment and export. You cannot edit another writer’s file, and nothing you do here reaches their draft without them accepting it.

What a script carries

A script in FPS is not a file in a folder. Each one carries four things, and they move together.
The pages
Imported from FDX and edited here for the changes that have to happen fast.
The scenes
Ordered, numbered and movable, with the cast and length of each.
The review
Coverage, corrections, the character index and the reduction options, tied to the scenes they concern.
The outputs
FDX and PDF of the script; PDF of each review document, branded by whoever wrote it.

Revision colours

The colour is the state, not a label you type. A script only advances a colour when pages are locked and a revision is issued.
SALLOW is on white. Pages are not locked, so there is no revision to issue yet — and until they are, every scene number in the coverage documents can move.

Where this sits

→ Scheduling
Scenes, pages and cast feed the strip board and the DooDs.
→ Budget
Each script version has a matching budget version, so a cost change can be traced to the page that caused it.
→ Production
Sides and call sheets are generated from the locked script, not retyped from it.
→ Investors
The deck an investor reads is built from the version the producers signed off.
